Baseball

Base Set

In 1981 O-Pee-Chee licenced version of the Topps set. It was basically identical to the Topps set, however it only had 376 cards instead of the 726 in the Topps set and had the Topps branding replaced with O-Pee-Chee branding. Major differences compared to the Topps set are bilingual backs, and some cards with added traded lines. The company released this set on two different types of cardstock. The more abundant one is the traditional cream-colored card-back, while the other scarcer variety is printed on gray cardstock that is similar in tone to the Topps cardstock. The greyback cards generally command a premium as they were released at roughly 1 to 10 of the cream-colored backs. The cards featured a photo with a complementary to the team colours solid border, the players name in the bottom centre in a complementary colour, and a representation of the teams hat featuring the team name and player position. Team photo (with checklist back) and multiple player rookie cards for the Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays were issued, but for no other teams. Size: 2.5 X 3.5 inches, 6.35 x 8.89 centimeters
